About James Horend
James Horend, founder and principal owner of Life Coaching & Mentoring Service and Educational Tutoring & Mentoring Service brings to his services an extensive educational background and years of professional experience. Horend was a science teacher, special education teacher, school administrator and former executive director of a not-for-profit corporation during a career that spanned three decades. He is a certified teacher and administrator with a Master of Science degree and has completed additional studies in the fields of counseling and life coaching. Jim – as he likes to be called – is currently a full time life coach practitioner, tutor and "budding" author. Although he considers himself a generalist, he specializes in working with administrators and teachers and with all personal and professional matters related to the fields of education. A unique sub-specialty of Jim's is his work coaching clients suffering from chronic back pain. In general Jim works with clients between the ages of 6, 60 and beyond.
His decision to enter into this relatively new and fast growing profession - Life Coaching - received its impetus when he had a chance meeting with an old friend and life coach at a business meeting 15 years ago. Jim said, “During a chat with my friend about his coaching career something clicked and I was motivated to investigate this relatively new profession”. It was at this point that Jim realized how his career and training in education and administration coupled with his corporate-world experience provided him with the foundation needed to take the next steps; further exploration, study and training. He went on to say, “I also realized I have been life coaching, to some degree, all of my working life.” Jim described the match as “obvious”. He found the studies and training both helpful and interesting and the transition into life coaching almost effortless. “My decision has proved to be a good one and my ten plus years as a practitioner have been exciting and very fulfilling for me. This, added to my tutoring efforts, has proved to be a very positive and rewarding combination."
My Coaching Philosophy
I firmly believe people are capable of using their untapped resources to create the life of their dreams. They may accomplish it alone – or they may not – but with my help the odds are very much in their favor. I am trained to tap those innate resources while adding effective tools that enable the client to go successfully forward in his or her quest for greater fulfillment.
I know that clients have their own ideas and goals but still need and can benefit from the support and understanding of a life coach. Someone who is skilled at helping clarify, organize and helping implement those ideas and goals in a meaningful and productive manner.
I believe success can be realized by anyone willing to define it and work to get it. And that the dynamic interactive partnership that develops between coach and client leads to that ultimate success. Together they – we - create a life path that brings the client success and fulfillment. My life’s work has always been, and continues to be, devoted to helping people grow and be successful.
